Sabahat Ashraf (iFaqeer)

There are few individuals who on a daily basis reach out to as many people as Sabahat Ashraf does, via web. Writer-activist Sabahat Ashraf grew up in Nigeria, got an engineering degree from NED University, and started his writing career in Pakistan. In Karachi, besides being the editor of The Teenager magazine he wrote a column for the Biweekly Mag. He was also actively involved with WAR (Women Against Rape). After a brief stay on the East Coast of the US, Sabahat moved to the Bay Area and became active in liberal political and literary groups. He is now an integral part of the Progressive Muslim Movement in North America. He has co-founded a number of progressive organizations including Friends of South Asia and Silicon Valley Pakistani American Community. Currently Sabahat writes for Spider, Pakistan’s Internet magazine, and blogs extensively as iFaqeer, his nom de plume. His awareness and involvement in human rights and political issues in Pakistan, South Asia, and the US can be read at his blog, http://ifaqeer.blogspot.com. He also blogs at http://WadiWallah.blogspot.com, on “life, technology, and getting by in Silicon Valley”. Every Sunday, he presents a segment on technology from ABN Chicago Radio. Though presently Sabahat earns his bread as a technical writer he is ready to make a career out of writing and public speaking..
